Jaya Kishori

Modern katha vachak bringing Bhagavat and Ramayana storytelling to millions online and on stage.

Jaya Kishori is a katha vachak - a devotional storyteller - whose tellings of the Bhagavat Purana, Sundar Kand, and Shrimad Bhagavat Katha have built a large audience across India and the Indian diaspora. Born Jaya Sharma in Rajasthan, she began performing bhajan and discourse in her teens and has performed publicly since the mid-2010s.

Her YouTube and social-media channels reach several million followers, and she has been invited to cultural events, universities, and public gatherings to speak on Indian philosophy, relationships, and youth. She has spoken publicly about the experience of being a young woman in a traditionally male-dominated discipline.

On stage she mixes devotional storytelling with practical life commentary - purpose, relationships, habits - delivered in fluent Hindi and drawing on classical texts.
